Paddleless Urban Creek

Plywood panes, graffitied stucco, a dead cat
Tincture of bacon? Wafts on crepuscular air
Two bedraggled men tote today’s life savings
Of collected aluminum cans
A Mom/Child pushes a Baby/Child in a stroller
To nowhere
Automobile exhaust…exhausts
Three dead soldiers…40 ounces in height
Salute me…A man walks in aimless circles
On a square block in a pyramid ordered world
Spare change, spare change, spare change?
Geo. Washington oblivious to his new owners
Three towering palms seem incongruous
A urine soaked asphalt beach lies below
“Your smog check is complete sir…it passed”
As I pass…through one infinitesimal quadrant
Of Hell
