Plied and Pilloried

Pills for the heart
Pills for the pain
When the clock so dictates
It’s pill time again
Pills for the stomach
Pills for the head
Someday they’ll invent
A pill for the dead
Horse sized or tiny
Chewable too
Whatever the problem
They’ve got one for you
Capsules and Caplets
A plethora of shades
Strengths large and small
Keep them cool and in shade
Now the pharmacist nears
And I’m getting strange chills
I can see on his face
He’s run out of my pills
I stagger out blindly
With my unfilled refill
As I remember the days
Those glorious days
Without pills
