Gale Tale

I am the wind, upon tired bodies I oft’ do blow
I am the wind, both fury and caress with rain and snow
I am the wind that for countless millennium strafes desert sands
I am the wind that chaps the lips and seasons the hands
I am the wind that circles the planet cross oceans and granite
I am the wind that cools the face as you do fan it
I am the wind that ne’er ceases blowing somewhere each day
I am the wind that carries the seeds that grow plants in the clay
I am the wind that scatters the leaves crimson and gold every fall
I am the wind that slows the mountain ascent down to a crawl
I am the wind that brought billowing sails across the water
I am the wind that tousled the hair of a precious daughter
I am the wind that propelled the ships to rescue fair Helen
I am the wind that provided the power for brave Magellan
I am the wind year after year eroding the Sphinx
I am the wind alive with the fragments of eon’s links
I am the wind frigid and freezing trying to get in
I am the wind hot and dry that helps blister the skin
I am the wind the cyclone, the twister, the hurricane
I am the wind gentle and soft on the old weather vane
I am the wind alive with the smoke from man’s endless wars
I am the wind stained with the tears from a mother’s implores
I am the wind that spreads airborne pollution, foul residue
I am the wind swirling the day’s trash on Fifth Avenue
I am the wind that powers the clouds above you so
I am the wind the eagle glides whilst scanning below
I am the wind on which meadowlarks song is lifted aloft
I am the wind blowing heat from hell or heaven’s loft
I am the wind on which rides every voice heard on the earth
I am the wind full of banshee wails and joyous mirth
I am my own beginning, I am my own end
I’ll continue my voyage ‘til eternity and then
I’ll engulf sun and moon my only two friends
And then whisper to the cosmos for…I am the wind
